Many have a misconception that Sciatica is a disorder in itself. However, Sciatica is really a symptom of a disorder.
Sciatica is generally caused by Sciatic nerve compression.

Disorders & actions known to cause sciatic nerve pain include:
1. Lumbar spine sublimations (misaligned vertebral body/ies),
2. Herniated or bulging discs (slipped discs),
3. Injury from a slip and fall, hip arthritis, or a difference in leg length, can injure the Piriformis muscle which assists in hip rotation. The sciatic nerve runs beneath this muscle. Injuries can cause cramping and spasm to develop in the piriformis muscle, thereby pinching the sciatic nerve and causing inflammation and pain.
4. Pregnancy and childbirth, Tumors
5. Continuous bad posture while sitting, driving or riding. Hyper-extension while doing same. Also hyper-extension while cooking or reaching out for objects & lifting weights
6. Non-spinal disorders such as diabetes, constipation etc.
7. Rush to catch Trains or Buses

REIKI SPINE BALANCING:
1. Position the Right palm over the base of spine near the tail bone. Without touching anywhere in between place the left hand over the Occiput(base of skull where the spinal cord starts)
2. Lift both hands simultaneously about 2 inches above the body. Try to sense the floating sensation
3. Persisting with the hands slightly above the spine without touching move left hand & Right hands towards each other. First neck & below waist with the respective hands.
4. Next move to shoulder blades & waist with respective hands. Maintain your hands positions without touching the spine
5. Finally join both hands above the back of heart chakra area
6. After sometime gently rest the palms on the spine.
7. Now touch the Occiput with the left middle finger with the lightest pressure.
8. Hold index & middle fingers of right hand in a ‘V’ shape. With the V shaped finger tips, sweep energy strokes from the nape to the base of spine near the tail-bone. Do this thrice. Do not touch spine. Use mental pressure. If the patient is diabetic the sweeping motion should be from base of spine to nape.
9. Lay your right palm gently on the Hara to conclude.

Reiki on Sciatic Region:
1. Lie comfortably on stomach with legs straight. Be totally relaxed & loose.
2. Place left hand over sacral bone(just above the spine base) with the fingers pointing down towards the legs and the middle-finger tip just touching the tail bone. Keep it till the session ends. Avoid putting pressure.
3. With the Right Hand treat at different positions from thigh down to the sole of feet. Start with buttocks, and then back of thigh, knees so on till you reach the sole. You would have covered at least 5 positions depending height
4. Repeat on other leg.

Alternatively you can give Reiki by the first position on Hara & the sole of each foot. Please only use this alternative only if lack of time.

REIKI TECHNIQUE FOR SCOLIOSIS OF SPINE, SPONDILYTIS & SCIATICA
This process involves the gentle expansion of spinal discs spacing between the vertebrae for relaxation of spine & release of any pinched nerve.
1. With the thumb & middle finger of left hand pinch ever so lightly the Occiput (base of skull where the spinal cord starts)
2. Simultaneously touch the Right Hand middle finger tip to the tail bone. Persists with position until your pulse is synchronized between fingers of each hand.
3. Now with your left hand at the neck and the right hand on the on the sacrum, move hands equally towards the centre of spine, one palm distance at a time.
4. Each move is completed when the pulse felt in your middle fingers is synchronized. One can even use the typical Reiki feel good intuition.
5. See that your hands never loose contact with the patient’s body during the movement. ‘Inch-worm’ your hands by pulling the heel of the palm heel to the fixed position of the middle finger, then sliding your fingers towards the center of the back still touching the spine.
6. Hold longer positions on the painful areas.
7. Experienced masseuse chiropractors & doctors can use the pinch on every vertebra.
8. For more accuracy & precision move the hand which is farthest from the imbalance along the spine one move at a time allowing pulse synchronization, until the fingertips of your two hands are at equal distance from the point of imbalance or pain. Then move both hands equal distance towards this point until the middle finger tips above and below the vertebra. It is not necessary to have the tips of your middle fingers directly touching the painful or imbalanced vertebrae

Please note that multiple Reiki Channels jointly doing the above therapies will benefit greatly.
Please note that Reiki Spine Balancing is a must before all the mentioned therapies.

Reiki combined with Accupressure Points
Reiki & Acupressure done simultaneously addresses these problems, with a curative rate of almost 98%.

Scoliosis:
Run Accupressure Rollers on the Spinal area. Firm pressure movements along the length of middle of both palms(simultaneous) & soles of both feet(simultaneous).

Spondylitis:
Encircle with pressure Main Joint of Big toes with the thumb & index finger. Accupressure Rollers used on the shoulder blade area help a lot. Besides it also improves the circulatory & digestive system as an added benefit. The elongated blue spot area in the figure below is the acupressure point for Spondilytis.

Sciatica:
First find the center of the depression at the sides of the buttocks. Then press both sides simultaneously and hard, because the acupressure points lie deep below the skin, Persists with the pressure for about 30 secs & release. After a minute repeat 2 more times. Run Accupressure Rollers on the Spinal area & all along the length of the legs(back side). The Red spot in the figure below is the acupressure point for Sciatica condition.

The ear contains a lot of Accupressure Points. Reiki to both ears simultaneously is very beneficial.

GOD BLESS.

Fantastic Steve - Great explanation and so informative. May I print it and put it in my folder? My husband has these sciatica flare ups from time to time and this will be interesting to try. My only problem with him is that I think he does not truly believe that Reiki can really work - but I'm working on that.....

By the way, the link for the Reiki Level 3 manual is not working and was wondering if anyone was aware of that? I was out of ink for awhile and now I wish to print it out. I like being able to reread the manuals in when I travel.

Thanks again and many blessings to you,

Christina

Dear Christina,
A good idea to print the page.
As you read on(and repeat) one always comes across new things.
Good to see somebody searching & making best use of THC. Fortunately we have some great info in simple language with aim of trying to uncloak most ambiguities.
About Mr. Rush's problem.......
Honestly there is no way any conventional doctor can treat him for sciatica. He will either suggest a oral or local pain suppressing or nerve tranquilizing drug.
Given that his belief in Reiki is diminutive it is not a good idea to try & make him believe.
You carry on your good work on him at a spiritual level. At the same time follow the physical aspects mentioned in the post.
A good Massage therapist or Acupuncturist which can be his next hope, am afraid can be a costly affair in Illinois & for that matter anywhere in USA except maybe few places in San Francisco, Chicago & Hawaii. These places are not so close! :o
Put a choice in front of him. He will realize that good ol wifey can be the best help he can have. ;D ;)

Thanks Christina for pointing out about the failing link. It is helpful & highly appreciated. :wD
Many are not aware that all the website layout, designing & coding is done by Mohan & Rahul themselves.
They are doing an admirable & remarkable job. Its our duty to help them. :gL
Keep us posted about further developments. We will be delighted to help you.
God Bless.

Dear Atul,
Sorry for the delay in reply due to other engagements.
You will need another Reiki channel for company to do all the excercises as this is a completely hands-on procedure, even Reiki level 1 will do.
or you can start reiki & tell some one to do the physical exercises on you.
other option is to attune someone & as training take that persons help.
Hope this helps.
Blessings.
Where are you from?

Whew, a lot of wonderful information, thank you Steve ji! And thank you to Mohan ji and Rahul ji. This site has helped so very many people, even if most do not post (cough cough *grin*).

The spinal balancing Reiki technique is fantastic, thank you for posting it! :wD

Did you know that the sciatic nerve is the largest in the body? It's approximately the size of a man's thumb!

Depending upon the level of Reiki attained you can do the energy work like distance Reiki on the self, but I agree that it's best to have someone else do this for you.

When I do Reiki on myself (and I do find that it's nowhere near as powerful when I treat myself--I usually run my energy to keep it flowing and moving or it tends to back up and my hands get sore-and I get cranky *grin*) I envision this:

I run my Reiki and other energy sources. Closing my eyes, I hold my hands, fingers slightly tense and splayed, palms facing away from my body. Now I cross my thumbs so that they look like an "X." This connects and balances my energy.

Envision sending the Reiki/other energy sources to your subtle body. It may take practice, but in a sense you go into a deep meditation and astral to just outside of your physical body. Does that make sense?

I hope it helps with the sciatic pain.

Namaste :F0
