The Holistic Care Early Years Initiative
Mindfulness & Cognitive Play for Early Years
A playful, structured early-years programme helping children practise attention, memory, flexible thinking, listening, coordination, emotional awareness and creativity through stories, movement, sensory experiences and age-appropriate cognitive games.
Nursery · LKG · UKG
Play first. Learning through experience.
MedhaPlay combines short mindfulness experiences with developmentally appropriate cognitive games, movement, stories, puzzles and creative missions. Children are not asked to sit still for long periods or complete repetitive worksheets. Instead, they explore.
The purpose is not to label children or measure intelligence. MedhaPlay gives children repeated opportunities to notice, think, remember, adapt, participate and try again through play.
Six Adventure Worlds
Every level travels through the same six worlds. Each world gives a group of skills a home, a story and a set of games, so children always know where they are on the adventure.
Attention + self-regulation
Grounding, sensory noticing, body awareness, gentle listening and short present-moment practices.
Focused attention + observation
Spot the change, sound detective, visual tracking, careful listening and matching.
Working memory
Remember objects, sequences, movements, locations and simple story elements.
Pattern recognition + reasoning
Sorting, patterns, sequencing, prediction, odd-one-out and visual-spatial puzzles.
Inhibitory control + cognitive flexibility + coordination
Stop-go games, rule switching, opposite actions, freeze games and cross-body movement.
Creativity + emotional awareness + flexible thinking
Story sparks, creative choices, kindness missions, feelings awareness and imaginative exploration.
Three developmental levels
The same skills progress in depth from Nursery to UKG, rather than simply repeating the same activity. Each level has its own 24 sessions.

Emphasis
Difficulty increases gradually through the number of items, rules, sequence length, distraction and independence, not by pressuring children to perform faster.
MedhaPlay session rhythm
Young children feel safe when they know what comes next. Every session follows the same seven steps; the world, the story and the game are what change.
Transition into the adventure.
A short sensory or mindful attention practice.
Explore the main cognitive game.
Try a slightly deeper variation.
Movement or sensory reset.
Notice what helped, changed or was discovered.
Mark progress through the MedhaPlay journey.
Sample mission · Memory Mountain
Working memory mission
The focus is not on who answers first. Teachers help children discover simple strategies such as looking carefully, repeating names, grouping objects and trying again.
2-3 familiar objects. One disappears; children point to or name what has gone.
3-4 objects. Children share how they tried to remember, such as saying the names aloud.
4-5 objects, sometimes with an order or location change instead of a missing item.
Story-led learning
Activities can be introduced through short stories and recurring missions, so each game has a reason to play.
Storytelling gives young children a reason to listen, notice, remember and solve: not because they are being tested, but because they are part of an adventure.
Calm Cove
A mysterious sound must be discovered.
Memory Mountain
A treasure has disappeared.
Puzzle Planet
A pattern mystery needs solving.
Movement Maze
Explorers must remember when to move, stop and switch.
What the school receives
Planned programme resources are delivered digitally and as printables. The exact pack is agreed with each school and may include:
Some resources are still in development and will be confirmed in each school's package. Professionally printed books, physical kits and school-branded packs are optional and scoped separately.
THC teacher training & support
Teachers do not need prior mindfulness experience. The proposed model includes approximately 6 hours of teacher development, delivered online, on-site or blended.
Lead training and programme orientation may be conducted by Mohan Chute, The Holistic Care.
~6 hrs
of teacher development, plus scheduled implementation reviews
For: Principal, Preschool coordinator, Academic coordinator, School management.
Implementation support
Recommended support points for the 12-week core programme, subject to your final school package.
Before start
Weeks 1-2
Around week 2
Around week 6
Weeks 7-10
Weeks 10-12
On the Extended Programme (one session a week), the same support is spread across approximately 24 weeks.
Online support & observation
MedhaPlay is not an online testing system. Planned digital support is about how the programme is running, not how a child scores.
A dedicated online dashboard may be introduced as the digital programme layer evolves. Any developmental concern continues through the school's normal professional and safeguarding processes.
Safeguards
Clear boundaries keep MedhaPlay gentle, inclusive and safe for every child.

Programme options
Each option is scoped with your school. Share your levels and class numbers and we will send a proposal.
6-8 weeks
A low-risk introduction for schools that want to see MedhaPlay in their classrooms first.
Recommended
24 sessions per level at 2 sessions per week, with the full support model.
Approx. 24 weeks
One structured session per week, for schools that prefer a slower implementation.
Scoped with your school

Questions schools ask
MedhaPlay is a structured early-years enrichment programme from The Holistic Care. It combines short, playful mindfulness experiences with age-appropriate cognitive games, movement, stories and creative missions, helping Nursery, LKG and UKG children practise attention, memory, flexible thinking, listening, coordination, emotional awareness and creativity.
Three levels: Nursery (Little Explorers, approximately 3-4 years), LKG (Curious Explorers, approximately 4-5 years) and UKG (Mind Explorers, approximately 5-6 years).
24 structured sessions per level, so 72 sessions across Nursery, LKG and UKG. The recommended pattern is 2 sessions a week for 12 weeks; schools can also run 1 session a week over approximately 24 weeks.
No. MedhaPlay does not claim to increase IQ or intelligence. It gives children repeated, playful opportunities to practise everyday skills such as noticing, remembering, waiting, switching and trying again.
It includes short, playful mindfulness and sensory practices, such as listening for sounds or noticing the body. There is no forced stillness, children are never required to close their eyes, and breath-focused practice is always optional.
Normally the school’s own trained educators, supported by The Holistic Care through training, resources and implementation reviews.
Yes. The proposed model includes approximately 6 hours of teacher development (about 4 hours of foundation training and a 2-hour practical review), a 45-60 minute leadership orientation and scheduled implementation reviews.
Yes. Selected printable and digital materials, such as activity sheets and game cards, are planned as part of the programme. They support play-based activities; they do not replace them.
No. MedhaPlay does not produce IQ scores, rankings or diagnostic labels. Teachers may make short, descriptive observations, for example about participation or the strategies a child used.
Not of children. Digital tools can support programme monitoring, such as session completion, teacher feedback and implementation reviews. They are not used to test or rank children.
Yes. A Starter Pilot of approximately 6-8 weeks, with selected missions, teacher orientation and essential resources, lets a school see MedhaPlay in practice before a full programme.
MedhaPlay is a focused enrichment programme of mindfulness and cognitive play with a compact implementation. PanchaVikas is THC’s broader whole-child early-years framework for longer-term curriculum and culture integration. A school may adopt MedhaPlay independently, or use it as an accessible starting point before exploring a wider PanchaVikas partnership.
Yes. Each level has its own 24 sessions. The same six worlds are explored at every level, with difficulty increasing gradually in depth rather than speed.
Typically 15-20 minutes for Nursery, 20-25 minutes for LKG and 25-30 minutes for UKG.
Yes. Planned parent resources include a programme introduction, simple optional home games and guidance for supporting playful practice, with no homework pressure.
