Sharad Patil (Reshamey)

Sharad Patil served for many years in the Maharashtra state administration, including as a Additional Collector, before taking an extended sabbatical to work as the Administrative Head of Sahyadri School, a residential school in Pune district run by the Krishnamurti Foundation of India on the educational philosophy of J. Krishnamurti. He later returned to government service as Assistant Professor at YASHADA, Pune, the state's apex administrative training institute.

A lifelong seeker and writer of poetry, Sharad's inward inquiry deepened over years of direct contemplation rather than reliance on any prescribed spiritual path. His study of the Tao Te Ching led him to write his own interpretation of Lao Tzu's teaching in the Abhang verse form used by Marathi saint-poets such as Sant Dnyaneshwar and Tukaram, published as The Unveiling of Tao by Padmagandha Prakashan, Pune.

Deeply drawn to the teachings of J. Krishnamurti and Ramana Maharshi, and grounded entirely in his own direct experience rather than belief, Sharad coined the term APANTH, the Pathless, to describe the simple truth that the Self needs no path to be known, because it is already here and now.
